When I read aloud, I also model them for my students. But, when they're reading independently there's only so much I can do to see whether or not they remember what strategies they should be using.
I've seen people make bookmarks for EVERYTHING and I think it's a great idea! For me, it's the next best thing to being inside my students' heads while they're reading. They can constantly refer to the bookmark to remind themselves of what "Excellent Readers" do.
So, I designed these cute bookmarks!
You can easily print them out on card stock, laminate them if you wish, cut them out, and share them with your students. I don't know about YOU, but my kids are always asking for bookmarks - why not give them a bookmark they can learn from and actually utilize for more than just marking a page?
